These collages were an exploration of modern images of Native Americans using a variety of source material. The far background consists of shreded paper, sometimes articles about the history of Native Americans. The next layer includes stereotypical images of "Indians" still used today by sports teams, marketing companies and high schools (with the exception of the "cowgirl" used in #4-- this cowgirl was used until very recently in a t-shirt design for a butcher shop). The top-most layer of material are images of children "playing" cowboys and indians from coloring books.
