This is the same tree that appears in my 1994 oil painting Self Portrait. Much like the previous painting, this picture is based on several separate photographs, but in this case, the pictures were stitched together using a computer and printed with a color laser printer. The images were then cut into two sets of 1-inch strips, half of which were used here. A set of horizontal strips was collaged into the background, the entire image was painted over, and then a second set of vertical strips was added on top of the painted image. The branches of the tree were completed with pencil.
