These pieces are an attempt to fuse the realism of photography, the textures of collage and the expressiveness of painting. The basis of each painting is a photograph or a digital photograph, from which enlarged prints are made using a digital printer. These large images are cut apart and half of the pieces are collaged onto canvas, with the missing parts of the image recreated with acrylic paint, pencil or charcoal. Sometimes printed textures such as maps or blocks of type are added, and the entire image is painted to give it a consistent look. This process creates images that have sharp photorealistic details, rich surface and visual textures and the looseness and spontaneity of painting.

These paintings also represent a shift in subject matter, as I started working again with landscapes, as I had in my shaped canvases.
